Support the Efforts to Rescue Earthquake Victims in Syria

“Whoever saves one life, saves all of humanity.”

Rescue workers in Syria have been working tirelessly for the past 60 hours, searching for survivors in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake that has claimed over 2,800 lives across Syria. The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reports that 1262 fatalities have occurred in areas controlled by the Syrian regime, while the Syrian Civil Defense reports that more than 1,540  fatalities have occurred in northwestern Syria. The death toll is expected to rise as hundreds of families remain trapped beneath the rubble of destroyed buildings.

Despite their tireless efforts, the rescue teams desperately need support with equipment and means of rescue. However, relief efforts are struggling as relief trucks are unable to cross the border from Turkey to northwestern Syria because of the closure of roads. This only exacerbates the tragedy.

Therefore, we appeal to all to support the efforts of the civil defense workers in Syria by removing obstacles and facilitating the passage of aid across all border crossings. In the 12 years of conflict in Syria, borders and sanctions did not stop the aggression of warplanes, tanks, and bombs. It should not prevent the delivery of rescue equipment and humanitarian aid to those in need.

We stand with the White Helmets and other medical and humanitarian organizations working in the field, who hear the cries of those trapped under the rubble. We urge everyone to support their efforts as they desperately need specialized equipment to save more lives
