In Syria, the conflict has amplified tensions along ethnic and religious lines, increasing the risk of further violence. Mediated communication and dialogue among diverse groups of Syrian civil society can de-escalate tensions and contribute to sustainable peacebuilding.
TDA transforms transitional justice concepts into concrete initiatives through piloting grassroots reconciliation initiatives in post-ISIS areas of the northeast, where Arab-Kurdish dialogue is essential to prevent the emergence of new conflicts fueled by ethnic tensions. Recognizing that trust-building is an iterative process, TDA’s approach places equal emphasis on the processes and outcomes of those efforts. This takes places under the program Advancing Justice and Accountability for Detainees and the Disappeared (AJAD), co-implemented with the Institute for War and Peace Reporting.
