Syrian community members gain better understanding of Personal Status Law

On 1 May 2019, TDA’s Communicators Team in Azaz/Aleppo countryside, conducted a discussion session titled “Personal Status law in Syria and its Latest Amendments”, attended by 17 participants, mostly women, in collaboration with Souriyana Al-Amal team.

 

The session aimed to introduce women to Personal Status law, get their feedback and opinions on the new amendments, and clarify how it affects the current reality of Syrian women.

 

Over three hours, lawyer and civil rights activist, Hassan Afadly, discussed three main axis:

  • A brief overview of the personal status law history in Syria
  • An overview and discussion on law’s main articles.
  • The latest amendments of the law, and the possibility of applying them within the local communities.

 

ِAt the end of the session, Mr. Afadly answered many questions raised by the attendants regarding marriage, inheritance, will conditions, etc.
