TDA Concludes Nationwide Youth Dialogues on the “Safe Environment for the Transitional Phase”

Over the past months, The Day After (TDA) has implemented a series of dialogue sessions and workshops across eight Syrian governorates as part of its project, “Youth Voices, Pathways to the Future.”
A total of 239 participants, including 166 young women and men, took part in these consultations aimed at outlining the key elements of a “Safe Environment for the Transitional Phase” in Syria.

The project was funded by the Zivik funding programme.

Preliminary findings from these sessions show that more than 80% of participants consider freedom of expression the cornerstone of any genuine sense of safety. Participants further emphasized that rebuilding trust requires restructuring public institutions and curbing the spread of uncontrolled weapons.

“These discussions revealed something we often overlook,” said Anwar Majanni, Director of Programs at TDA.

“Young Syrians are not only asking for safety—they are asking for dignity, accountability, and a new social contract that puts people, rights, and institutions at the centre. Their voices are unmistakable: any transition must be built with them, not for them.”

The insights emerging from these youth-led dialogues underline a genuine desire among communities to rebuild trust, strengthen civic life, and create the conditions for a stable and inclusive future.

TDA will release the full report—including detailed findings, thematic analysis, and policy recommendations—in the coming days.
