A Memorandum Submitted to the Preparatory Committee for the Syrian National Dialogue
As part of the work of the Preparatory Committee for the Syrian National Dialogue Conference, The Day After organization has presented its vision, reaffirming its commitment to a rights-based approach that supports a just democratic transition in Syria. The memorandum focuses on key pillars to ensure a fairer future for all Syrians:
Transitional Justice: The necessity of uncovering the truth, holding perpetrators accountable, and providing reparations for victims to ensure national reconciliation and prevent future violations.
Constitutional Development: Advocating for a constitution that establishes a democratic political system, upholds the principles of equal citizenship, ensures the independence of powers, and guarantees the neutrality of state institutions while emphasizing respect for human rights.
National Dialogue: Calling for the creation of an inclusive national body to manage broad societal dialogues, ensuring fair representation of women and youth while involving all segments of society.
Economic Affairs: Emphasizing the importance of equitable resource distribution, combating corruption, and supporting sustainable economic recovery policies to achieve long-term stability.
We believe that Syria’s future must be built on the foundations of freedom, justice, and human rights, as these principles are the true guarantors of a comprehensive and sustainable democratic transition.
