23 February 2019 – On 18 February 2019, the Institute for War and Peace Reporting (IWPR) held a kick-off event for the new project Advancing Justice and Accountability for Detainees and the Disappeared (AJAD). The event was held at the Wyndham Hotel in Istanbul with TDA’s management team among those in attendance.
The AJAD project is funded by the U.S. Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor (DRL) for the benefit of IWPR in partnership with several Syrian CSOs, including TDA.
The overall goal of AJAD is to empower Syrian civil society to advance justice and accountability efforts in Syria through documentation of human rights abuses, linkages with international accountability mechanisms, community-level advocacy, and awareness-raising on transitional justice issues.
